Glyptolepis leptopterus

Out of stock

This is by far the best example of this extremely scarce species we have ever seen. Many hours of preparation have gone into revealing beautiful 3d skull plates and scales and the definitive fin arrangement.

Sadly part of the tail and the tip of one fin is missing, but the shape has been recreated by the preparator, as can be seen in the photographs.

This is a stunning specimen of museum quality enhanced by the totally uncut rock that it sits upon, and would grace any collection in the world.

Specimen measures 300mm in length.

Matrix measures 670mm X 340mm at widest points.

Sandwick fish beds, Orkney.

Mid Devonian. Eifellian, 380 ma.
