Osteolepis macrolepidotus

9A very good example of this species, with very well preserved scales and skull plates, with a complete set of fins.

This is a dorsal specimen with tail slightly twisted during preservation.

This specimen is ‘as found’ with no preparation or restoration, just a good clean.

The better examples of this species are usually found with a faint natural ‘halo’ around the fossil, as is the case with this example.
